North Haven Democrats are ready to turn the page and move forward — together. David Cohen was unanimously endorsed by the DTC and won September’s Democratic primary, decisively, capturing over 70% of all votes! Voters sent a clear and powerful message: it’s time for collaboration, positive leadership, and a renewed vision for our town’s future.
A Candidate Aligned with Our Values and Priorities, And Voters Responded Decisively
David Cohen’s campaign is centered on the belief that Democrats must work together to strengthen our schools, protect our town services, and ensure that North Haven is an inclusive and thriving community, values and priorities that led to a unanimous endorsement by the North Haven DTC. As a small-business owner, volunteer firefighter and parent of NHPS students, Cohen emphasized listening to residents, collaborating with other elected officials, and bringing a forward-looking, solutions-oriented approach to town government.
In contrast, Sally Buemi spent months publicly questioning whether a popsicle truck on the green the day of the budget referendum “compromised the sanctity of the vote,” an insult to North Haven voters voting to provide our teachers, firefighters, police officers, and town employees the resources to do their jobs. Buemi has spent years trying to catch elected officials in “gotcha” moments at town meetings, ignoring input from Democratic voters, and refusing to collaborate with the DTC and other elected officials.
Backed by a team of energized DTC volunteers, David Cohen won 767-298 (a 72-to-28% margin) on the back of a voter turnout that more than doubled that of the prior Democratic Board of Selectman primary in 2013. North Haven Democrats are ready for a new era of leadership—one that listens, collaborates, and champions a positive future for all North Haven residents.
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!
David Cohen is now joined, on the ballot, by the rest of the DTC endorsed candidates on Row A. From Jenny Graves and Mike Hallahan on the Board of Finance, to Benjamin Loebick for Planning and Zoning, to Genevieve Cabrera, Michelle Guglielmo, and Holly Gifford for Board of Ed, and more, North Haven Democrats are energized, united, and ready to work together to lead North Haven to a bright future.
Early voting has already started, and runs now through Sunday, 11/2, from 10a-6p at the Rec Center (Room 1). Election day is next Tuesday, 11/4, from 8a-8p at your regular polling location. Looking forward to seeing you at the polls!
