Why Public Education Funding Matters for North Haven

Public education is the foundation of a thriving community, and in North Haven, we know that investing in our schools means investing in our future. Quality schools not only prepare students for success but also attract families to our town and boost property values.

However, maintaining strong public schools requires adequate funding. From classroom resources to teacher salaries, every dollar matters when it comes to providing the education our kids deserve.

The North Haven Democratic Town Committee is committed to advocating for robust public education funding. This includes ensuring that our schools have the resources they need to reduce class sizes, support special education programs, and invest in extracurricular activities like music and sports.

We need residents to stay informed and actively engaged on this critical issue that impacts our community and the future of our children. Whether it’s attending Board of Education meetings to voice concerns, ask questions, and contribute to discussions, or advocating for increased funding during budget season to ensure that our schools have the necessary resources, every action counts.

Engaging with local leaders and advocating for policies that prioritize education can lead to significant improvements in our school systems. Participating in the electoral process by electing leaders who have a proven track record of supporting educational initiatives and prioritizing the needs of our students is crucial.

Your voice, whether through voting, attending meetings, or simply spreading awareness, can make a substantial difference in shaping the future of our education system. Together, as a united community, we can ensure that North Haven schools remain a nurturing environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, ultimately preparing them for a successful future.

DTC Member and Board of Education Member, Amanda Gabriele, also put together this update that compares North Haven's educational spending and educational outcomes against other districts with similar socioeconomic markers. Check it out here.
